Dairyplan C21 Serial Serial Port Which

Does anyone have opinions on these programs We are leaning towards afi or dairyplan.

Probably the key part is if you like the equipment thats attached to it.

I dont know how many people out there use the Boumatic software, everyone seems to have the info transferred into dairycomp and uses that.

Alpro is just about on its last version and everything is moving to Delpro, the same software currently being used on tie-stall, VMS and parlours.

I guess Im down to dairyplan or afi, ive heard afi tech support is not good.

I know their service is really good, well from what Ive experienced from the Bad Axe store anyway.

Since you are in lower MI it is likely that your local DHI provider doesnt use them (Agsource does not have a local presence for direct DHI testing there).

Perhaps if you asked them to do your processing through AgSource they would let you, but I dont know.

They have their own program that they back PC-Dart and Pocket-Dairy (the mobile app version).

The only problem I have is with the local tech support (through our GEA dealer).

The guy comes out, and he ends up having to call into the home office for basic information.

So I sit there wasting a couple of hours with the guy, paying him to do something I could have done myself.

Frustrating. I should add that the reason Ive been needing support is not through the fault of the program itself--our computer kept crapping out and I had to replace the RAM.

Otherwise, the program runs well and is fairly customizable once you get the hang of things.

Since its an old computer, its running Windows XP, but Dairy Plan is compatible with any Windows OS up to 7 (not sure about 8).

We have a PCI serial port which is hardwired into the milking parlor to gather the data, but newer versions can also be used over an Ethernet connection.

Cheap and can make a report for anything I need and LOTS more.

My surge dealer gave me info on all specs for what I need in a computer so im set.

Now im just waiting on two more estimates and I will make my final decision between dairyplan or afimilk.
